I also applied R1 before Nov.1.

Essay:

It is the first application I submitted. The questions are in professional, short, and concise. I love them. No tricks. Just plainly tell who you are. All of those make me easy to finish the application in early stage.

Only the first question is a bit weird and similar to the one of Stanford. What matters most to you? But Darden did not ask why. This makes the question totally different.

Don't panic at information from "nowhere".  Use your common sense: it's impossible to have a deadline in Nov. for all scholarship applications. As far as I know, this should only refer to the early-round. 

Don't be shy to push the Admission office. Try to call them directly if you have any question, instead of waiting for their email response during this busy holiday season.

What matters most to you? But Darden did not ask why.

My understanding is that, they still expect you to clarify WHY it matters to you most, and WHAT you plan to do to achieve it. Be direct and concise. Good luck!
