it我觉得不多余，少了就句子不完整了

去了的话，变为 the army took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete. complete 及物所以一定要有宾语。

我稍微不同意楼上的意见，支持C选项

在GMAT中，根据省略的内容看看会不会给句子带来不明确或者歧义的地方，否则，能省则省。it在这里我觉得完全可以省略

the army took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete

这句话我觉得已经完整了

仅仅是个人看法，不一定正确

记不记得我们初中有种句子

我觉得和这题是一样的

不定式作为宾补

it好象是多余的

请高手指点啊

个人觉得，自己只能这么解释了，主语和最后要强调的complete的宾语太远，为了强调，加个it，否则可能产生歧义

我觉得C对。

因为主语是the army of....后面的complete如果再加it，就是redundant,至少是不简洁。如果换一种说法：it took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete it. 这时候一定要加it.

同样的类似句子还有上面举过的例子：.....to finish. 或：sth. took 3 years to produce.

这题据说去年6月还出现在实考中呢，好好研究研究。

觉得奇怪,因为and后面的第一个it 就是指代the army of...,这跟 The army of... took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete没有任何区别.

and 后面第一个it是形式主语"to complete it", 不过我拿不准的是and是否可以把两个句子"The army of ....is more than 2000years old" 跟"it took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete it" 连起来。因为我最近突然对两个完整句子的连接搞不清了。所以上午还发了个贴问run on等问题，至今没人回呢。anyway, it took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete it，这个句子单独是没问题的。It takes sb. some time to do sth.

你说呢？

(为了不让自己拿不准的误导别人，我还是改了一下，请高手指教一下两个句子连接的问题吧）
