再问，还是不明白。我觉得第一个分句中的theirz指的是chimpanzees，而E选项的中的they就近指代就是patterns，就算是指代主语也是other animals和未划线部分的their肯定不一样，而OG上面要求一句话中的代词指代要一致，怎么解释啊？谢谢大家。

同问.我也觉得很奇怪.xdf老师说原文里面不管they,their,them都要指代同一对象。以前也用这个原则做过排除法。可是这道题目就。。。

是老师说得太绝对了么？以后要是碰到这样的题目，是不是不应再考虑指代上的一致性？

lz,在prep语法破解里面，第一道题目就补充说明了指代上的变化。

第二个they 是在第二个whether 从句中，指代该从句中的主语other animals，第一个their refers to 第一个whether从句中的主语chimpanzees。 这两个指代都封闭在两个并列的whether 从句中，不会引起歧义。

所谓的同一个句子里不可以用一个代词指代不同的事务，也是正确的，但是这道题并没有违反这个规定。
