个人觉得E更好，因为后半句

as seen in the rings visible in the cross sections of their trunks.

应该直接连在rate at which tree grow 后面，而不是连在surest indications of sunspot cycles后面

补充一点，后面出现一个代词their trunks，指代trees，C选项的trees在句首，距离太远，当中隔了sunspots, indications等复数名词，显然有指代不清的问题，所以E更好。

做题的时候直接把E去掉了，因为没有主语

E主语是rate么？是倒装么？由于among引起的么。。。实在看不明白
