我想不能,因逻辑上不合理.as fast as 两边动词应是实意动词.表示动作快.而系动词be 表示状态

我赞同margaret1970MM说的. 这里的句子的语法结构是一个系表结构,做对比的时候要有相同的结构成分从而前后对应,不能用twice as fast as.

同时出现在选项中，是不是应选第二种说法？个人感觉第二种更简练，第一种毕竟还是有点WORDY。

小小见解:

我认为本题的关键是,中心词是the rate, 那么twice the rate 就已经能表达清楚"两倍"的概念, as fast as 作者的用意大概是想修饰increase的,可是除了中心词,其他的成分在比较结构里是无须修饰的,twice as fast as-->借用OG里的说法就是"redundant". 至于what代表什么,我认为它引导了指代rate的名词性主语从句. 可是what不应该被that替换,因为在商业英文里,that/this/those不能孤独出现做名词.
