independent of... 是指 在某方面是獨立自主的

查字典就知道, 兩個是不同的慣用語.

所以c選項用independent of a common ancestor...就與原本的句意相反了

原本是說 the egg-laying mammals是developed from a common ancestor

結果C選項變成 the egg-laying mammals 跟a common ancestor 沒有關係

E選項  變成  the egg-laying mammals of today are a development....

be動詞左右是兩個不能平衡的概念,

所以不合語意邏輯.
