For example, how many times have you heard the prescriptive rule, "never end a sentence with a preposition?" This is a Latin rule, but it doesn't apply to English, so it sounds very formal and even strange when this Latin rule is enforced. Now, how many of you would say, "What are we wating for?" I think most of us would prefer it to "For what are we waiting?" But as you see, this breaks the rule-the latin rule, that is.

不明白的是这个大多数人说的most of us would prefer it to "For what are we waiting?"

你看这个句子的意思,是说,我们大家都会说what are we wating for而不是For what are we waiting,但是这样就违法了拉丁的语法,就是不能用介词结束一个句子……

never end a sentence with a preposition这句话提示了:在拉丁语中不可以用介词结尾

I think most of us would prefer it to 这个是喜欢用it也就是前面引号里的,而不是喜欢to 后面的,
