我的想法,原句是两个并列的句子,E把后面那个句子改成状语了,改变原来的句子意思.

What's wrong with E？

黄色部分是个选项的错误，现在分词用在这里不好。这个serve的主语应该是surrounding temperature，用现在分词的话就会以为serve主语是the number of chirps per minute 。

现在分词在句尾，有表示结果状语和伴随状语的功能。表示结果状语的时候就表示主语的动作带来的结果，表示伴随状语时就表示与主句动词同时发生的动作。这里哪有用法都是错的哈

我觉得分词表结果: 鸟儿的鸣叫频率随温度改变,(以至于)可以当温度计用. 所以E似乎可以.请指教.
