Not all recuiters want to take risk to hire people from different background, but there are still some firms who do not really care what you did before; they are looking for your passion and commitment. over 80% of MBA candidates said they need a career change, how many got one at the end of 2 years? Internationals are tougher for this not because of lack of passion and commitment, but language and culture issues make recruiters hard to understand their presentation of passion and commitment, though everyone could effectively overcome language barrier easily, there's no way to fill culture gap in two years. And as you said, the pool of recruiters who are willing to try on different background is much smaller. That being said, internationals need more luck to succeed for this mission. How come a rational person bet hundreds of thousands $, precious time and tons of other opportunities on such a luck-dependent process? |
