Location is absolutely important for your future career placement. Unless your program is a top 10, you don't have competitive advantages to find a job in other states. For automobile industry, i'd say emory, cause it's close to Detroit. For electronics, I will go with USC, cause California is the center of electronics/microelectronics industry. Kelly is OK if you wanna work in midwest, but it will not get you an ideal job in other areas. Georgetown is a nationally recognized university, so you should have lots of networking opportunities. Personally, just talking about the locations, I'd rank them as followings: Southwest (California) > Northeast > Big lake area > Midwest > West (O/W)> South. - 大湖及附近地区除Chicago外被称为rusty belt,听名字就知道了,夕阳型的重工业区。
- California经济总量很大,单列出来可以排名世界第六,但骨干是中小企业及新兴企业。
- South看是在哪里。Georgia, NC都是经济相当发达的州。Atlanta是美国最年轻,最有活力的城市之一。我以前说过,道指30种成分股有两种在Atlanta。其他州如MS,AL,AK,SC等确实比较穷,但Duke和Emory不愁吃穿。
另外southwest一般指Texas那一带,也是经济发达的地方。West coast一般默认是指加州。 |
