I am not from USC, but I am sure if you talk to those Americans, private schools still mean a lot. When I first came to this country six years ago, I was really surprised to see people here only care about local public schools and those well-known private schools. Internationals know (or care) more about rankings than those americans. As for B-schools, it is hard to deny the fact that location would add more values as long as the ranking difference is not that huge.
