If you look at their recruiting results, only 30%-40% of their recruits come from top 14. If you look at Skadden, 90% from top 10. They are at two different levels.

I actually heard different stories. Some students with top school PhD, top grades, who went to an elite law school (much better than BU/BC) who didn't get an offer from Finnegan but got multiple offers from Vault 10 firms (sullivan, simpson, davis polk etc). Maybe it is because of yield protection? Who knows ...

But it is encouraging to hear your story. Thanks for sharing with us.

Since I don't have any personal experience outside CA, I really cannot answer this quesiton.  But based on what I heard and what I know, it would hard to imagine a EE master who goes to BU/BC with a not too bad transcript cannot get in Fish Boston office.  At least my officemate of last summer, a BU 2L, who has a master in Physics from MIT, got offers from both Fish Boston office and Finnegan DC office.  Although he is an American, I don't think this really matters.

So true!  I think a balanced lifestyle is much more important for females.

我也一直在考虑这个问题，不过我的问题是我的背景并不好，主要是专业不好。去工业界太敏感而且机会少，要是有绿卡还好，没有绿卡特别特别难，要不是被弄得很泄气了，我也不会自己给自己找麻烦。做postdoc倒是有机会，但做完postdoc以后呢？现在lab里面只有核武器部门有机会转正，但我们不可能去。以前的人做postdoc还指望快速拿个绿卡好去工业界，但现在这绿卡是一点指望都没有。

我也许以后会后悔，尤其要是JD读完也没找到工作的话，但现在对于我来说我所做的只是在尽力想走出一条路来。

第一代移民压力大呀，上一代，自己这一代，下一代全得照顾着，却没有哪一代会来照顾我们，上一代没有照顾我们的能力，下一代美国化了没有照顾我们的想法，惨呀，不然谁不喜欢轻轻松松过日子。
