我喜欢Chicago>CA>NYC>Boston,呵呵.

看你帖子好像你已经在法学院了,请问现在形势1L和2L好找summer intern吗? 要是能找到intern也可以补贴一下学费,呵呵.

我的preference完全反过来:)

from my personal experience:

In good years:

Any Law school in Silicon Valley

Master or Bachelor in EE/Computer Science or PhD in other areas

Not too bad law school transcript (I don't have much first-hand information on this one since people don't share their GPAs in our school).  My personal feeling is for IP litigation in GP firms, GPA is much more important than patent prosecution in boutiques.  My friend and I both got 1L offers before our first semester grades came out.)

In bad years, it could be a totally different story especially in the Valley.

As long as the firm doesn't have a bright-line rule saying absolutely no 1L, you will always have a chance to get in.  You can find firms' hiring policy from NALP.

Sounds pretty good! But I am actually worrying about the so called recession induced by the house market. Everybody is talking about it. Maybe I just worried too much.

不是说想做lawyer的人都是risk averse的么? You are a good fit.

How about schools outside California? I heard Fish and Finnegan are hard to get in even with strong technical background and a top 10 school. Is it true?

Since I don't have any personal experience outside CA, I really cannot answer this quesiton.  But based on what I heard and what I know, it would hard to imagine a EE master who goes to BU/BC with a not too bad transcript cannot get in Fish Boston office.  At least my officemate of last summer, a BU 2L, who has a master in Physics from MIT, got offers from both Fish Boston office and Finnegan DC office.  Although he is an American, I don't think this really matters.

you mean fish and finnegan?

No, they use their "life-style" story to recruit top 14 students. This is their biggest weapon. Otherwise, they will have miserable days at OCI.

If you look at their recruiting results, only 30%-40% of their recruits come from top 14. If you look at Skadden, 90% from top 10. They are at two different levels.
