先贴一篇前几天写的作文。。准备挨批。。 A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory neat where you live. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new addition to your community. Do you support of oppose the factory? Explain your position.
As a coin has two sides, the construction of a new factory would have both positive and negative effects. But our community is a comparatively undeveloped one. Take the present situation of our community into consideration, the new factory would do more good than harm.
It is without doubt that building a factory would unavoidably bring some problems. Pollution, which people nowadays pay a lot more attention to, can be the most severe one. New industry not only contaminates the environment, either destroys fresh air or makes water quality worse, but brings bothering noise as well. What’s more, other problems, such as too many attracted immigrants who are eagle to get ideal jobs, are also available.
However, the advantages of a new factory clearly outweigh the drawback. Most importantly, new industry provides a large number of jobs. The rate of unemployment in our city is consistently rising during the past decade. Thousands of people are out of work, living hard lives; even the well-educated people have trouble finding proper work. Therefore job opportunities are what we badly needed. And the factory will more or less improve the situation; if not totally solve the problem.
It also can be reasonably predicted that a new factory would greatly improve the economy condition of the community. Operating new industry can work as a simulation of the economy growth: the economy grows gradually, then more investments are attracted, and then the economy grows more rapidly. It is a favorable cycle that will end up the economic depression we are suffering.
I am convinced that the whole community benefit from building a new factory. Though negative effects are inevitable, measures can be taken to minimize them. Consequently, I totally support the idea of building a factory in our community. |
