有关语法改错题的

when two researchers checked blood samples of 55 cheetahs from two samples areas of South Africa, they found them to be almost genetically identity.

我知道第二个是肯定错的，但是第一个呢？我觉得sample不应该加S的吧，即便是做定语的时候？
