答案应该是C。原因如下：

1，E不对，因为both as well as是错的；

2，D不对，因为tree, being dependent on 是不合GMAT思路的，此外，is capable of doing不如could或者is able to

3，A不对，depending on both its size and on climate and altitude，在both...and的两边，没有形成平行，应该是depending both on its size and on climate and altitude

4，B不对，因为dependent on不对，依赖于，表示树从性质上依赖于；此外，and also on不好

5，C正确

这题还有一个涉及到的是in that和because的选择；两者其实都可以，OG中曾经有认为in that过于正式的说法，可见还是不倾向于，但是不能说错

A选项的in that不好,应该用because.在GMAT中仅当表现两者不同的情况下用in that. 例 A is different from B in that...

其次could应该改为can,因为整个句子的时间框架是一般现在时

c的because之前为什么有“，”？是为了减少enormously修饰的歧义吗？一般because 引导的原因状语从句都是不加逗号的哈

应该是可以加的：主句，because从句

就象，and也是连词

但是主句 AND 从句就不对了
