I am wondering:
(1) a 中的宾语从句中并没有一定要出现的that
(2) a 中it 指代模糊

XDF 教师说过代词先于名字出现优先指代最早出现的名词好像是这样说的根据原文看，IT 一定指ethnicity ，D的答案就重复了个人意见不要见笑。

I have never ever seen such use of intended.

Obviously here we can think of the ' intended' as ' somebody intends sth to do soth 'or  take it as an  adj .

intend A to do B. 一位特意让A去做某事。 这在高中英语里面有这个知识点， e.g. intend this book as your birthday present

所以这里， intended 可理解为过去分词做形容词来就近修饰mutual fund

btw，achieving a consistency of quality and production in farm animals ，这里面有个保持句子重心的问题，核心词是consistency而不是后面的q和p；

完全同意bobwangwb的说法。这里intended 肯定不是修饰mutual funds 。"often in the form of  of mutual funds"是插入语，也就是说拿掉它句子仍然完整 （Asset allocators create portfolios intened to turn in good results in both “bull” and “bear” markets）。而且mutual funds本身是不能turn in good results in both “bull” and “bear” markets，只有某些 (selectively created) portifolios with certain mutual funds/stocks才能达此目的。
