I have the same question for the second one. But for the first question.

GWD1-Q2:

By merging its two publishing divisions, the company will increase their share of the country’s $21 billion book market from 6 percent to 10 percent, a market ranging from obscure textbooks to mass-market paperbacks.

  1. their share of the country’s $21 billion book market from 6 percent to 10 percent, a market ranging

  2. from 6 percent to 10 percent its share of the $21 billion book market in the country, which ranges

  3. to 10 percent from 6 percent in their share of the $21 billion book market in the country, a market ranging

  4. in its share, from 6 percent to 10 percent, of the $21 billion book market in the country, which ranges

  5. to 10 percent from 6 percent its share of the country’s $21 billion book market, which ranges

In B and D, ranges is right after country. It should describe market rather than country. A and C use "their", which should be "its" to refer the company.

GWD1-Q20:

Rivaling the pyramids of Egypt or even the ancient cities of the Maya as an achievement, the army of terra-cotta warriors created to protect Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor, in his afterlife is more than 2,000 years old and took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete them.

  1. took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete them

  2. took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete it

  3. took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete

  4. 700,000 artisans took more than 36 years to complete

  5. to complete them too 700,000 artisans more than 36 years

I don't understand why it needs the it at the end. I choosed C. I think this sentence can be simplified as "the army took 700000 artisans more than 36 years to complete".

  3. to 10 percent from 6 percent in their share of the $21 billion book market in the country, a market ranging

  4. in its share, from 6 percent to 10 percent, of the $21 billion book market in the country, which ranges

  5. to 10 percent from 6 percent its share of the country’s $21 billion book market, which ranges

This is the first time that I wrote the reply. It seems that I messed up a little bit. Sorry!

我認為第一題答案應該為B,第二題答案是C才對。

I agree with your second answer. But I still think the first one should be E, although I did choose B when I first did it.

What is the subject of this sentence if the answer is B? Is the "it" omitted? Can "it" be omitted?

Actually I chose D for the reason to at least give a subject to this sentence. For other parts, I regard it as "DU LI ZHU GE".

Any comment?

I think that answer D for the first question is definitely wrong. increase is a vt verb. It is not idiomatic to say "increase in something".

No. I mean I chose D for the second question. D is definitely wrong for the 1st question.

D for the second question doesn't make sense. The AND is to connect two subsentences for the same subject army.
