-> No. Everything is conducted in English in both campuses. 2 languages are sufficient for entrance. Basic knowledge of 3rd language during your graduation.
2. My career goal is to enter international luxury corporation ,especially those in France.That`s why I choose insead as my dream school. I really want to know whether the career service of insead can help me to realize that kind of job.
-> Many chances either companies come to enroll or the career services help students find the chances.
3. Next question: Would you like to share with any key words or advice for the applicants from Telecommunication?
-> No bias. Knowing your career/goal is most important. Last year 36% engineering background once enrolled. Scholarship is available for technical background.
4. Dear Gopika, Is there any courses in INSEAD focus on social entrepreneur?
-> Very important field. endeavor club provides the activity for entrepreneur
5. How much work experience would you recommend prior to applying for INSEAD?
-> 2 - 10 years. Quality of work exp. Management exp. At least a few year working exp. is required.
6. What is the statistics of Insead graduates who entered Media&Entertainment industry? Is Insead strong in this field?
-> 2005, >13 participants in Media&Entertainment industry.
7. Is it difficult to apply the scholorship for Asia students ?
-> No. It only depends on personal exp., profile and financial needs. 2 scholarships especially for China. Candidates can apply for maximum 5 scholarships.
8. Dear Gopika, Do you prefer applicants with more working experience? I have only 2 years working experience, will it be a disadvantage for me?
-> Depends on what you have done.
9. I quit my job several month before because I don`t want to extend my employment contract.I want to know whether it wil be an adversity to my application
-> Not exactly. But need to understand what's the rationale, why and what's the purpose
10. do you think it is rational now for me to give up my own company and switch to insead now? by the way, my annual revenue is about 200,000 USD now.
-> Difficult questions. Need to know future goal. Some people quited and learnt a lot. Typically the return from INSEAD is great. But it may be case by case result.
11. What is the difference between starting off on the Singapore campus then on the France campus? Do the two campuses attract the same profiles? Or are there subtle differences?
-> 1/3 of enrollment in Singapore, 2/3 of enrollment in France. Career in Asia? then choose Singapore. Career in Europe? then Choose France. No difference between faculty.Majority of faculty fly between 2 campuses.
12. do I must have the GMAT and TOFEL test? I just finished a master degree of finance ,taught by english.
-> GMAT is required. TOEFL is not required if you have completed full degree in English.
13. i worked in retail industry. what can be further development for career of mine? Thank you 14. Will an MBA from Insead help a career shift into the non-profit sector? Are the careers services comprehensive?
-> Yes, some students move to non-profit sector.
15. what is the GMAT requirement for INSEAD? what is the preferred score range?
-> No minimum required GMAT. avg. 700. Balance between verbal and math.
16. Does Insead have history of admitting students with HR background,such as HR consultants, since it`s an increasingly emerging but still rare background.Thanks
-> Yes. Diverse organization of enrollment.
17. Could you give us some advice for the interview stage ?
-> Alumni holds interviews. Once submitting the application, in the coming weeks, you will be notified about whether to go to the next step or no. Then you will be notified by the contacted alumni. Once getting the interview chance, the chance is very high.
18. How easy is it to switch from Engineering to Finance after an MBA. At what level would I expect to enter the Finance industry after 5 years of IT engineering?
-> In 2005, 87% candidates want to make career shift. For engineering, suggest to take Jan. intake, 2 months for internship.
19. Dear Fang, you speak excellent english . do you think studying INSEAD contribute to your english proficiency?
-> Yes. Grow with people from different places in english environment.
20. if you would like to address a point for INSEAD to improve, what will be that?
-> Bidding system to choose the courses. Some students cannot select the good teachers. 2 phases core classes; 3 phases elective classes.
21. Can we contact alums before we apply? Where can we get their contact?
-> Yes. Email admission office and contact alumni.
22. From your experience, what qualities help an applicant stand out from the rest of the applicant pool?
-> 4 areas equally important:
academic ability: undergraduate degree, GMAT;
leadership potential:projects u led, leadership exp.;
international orientation: worked abroad; contribution: how interactive you will be;
23. Do you have any recommendations on essay writing ?
-> Genuine, honest, personal exp., make it touching
24. what are the most key factors that make differetiat INSEAD MBA program from Ameriacan MBA program?
-> 1) diversity: international people; in U.S., it will be U.S. oriented; career goal diversity; 2) one year program: fast to graduate
25. I would like to study supply chain management, and I like INSEAD. Will INSEAD be a good choice for me?
-> Yes. INSEAD provides the study in this area, especially study in elective courses.
26. Is it a "negative signal" to take the GMAT more than once? thank u.
-> No. 2-3 times are OK to show the improvement.
27. How would INSEAD view experience in a Non Profit Organization?
-> View positively. Should focus on what you have done.
28. I am 35 now, is it a disadvantage?
-> avg. 29 (range: 23 - 36)
29. What does a rejected applicant look like? Are they just silly applicants? Please can you give an example?
-> range various reasons. Refer to the 4 areas for checking.
30. Can you please explain how the decision-making happen for waitlisted students? For example, if only a single seat is available, how will the committee decide its choice since there is no ranking on the waitlist?
-> It takes time. Wait for people to make decisions, and inform the students A.S.A.P.
31. How does INSEAD look at GPA? I do not have a high GPA, less than 3 out of 4. Can I still apply?
-> Undergraduate degree is important. However, you can explain why in the optional essay. admission office will check the full views.
32. How many Chinese participant from China Mainland last year , Dear Fang ?
-> last year: 7; Jan. 2007: 13
33. Can you talk a little about family arrangement? If a husband is admitted, what can the wife do if they want to live together?
-> 30% students bring their spouses to INSEAD. Housing offcampus not owned by INSEAD. In Singapore, career services provide some chances for the spouse work.
34. What was the intake ratio of the applicants during the last enrollment?
-> not sure.
35. Dear Fang, What is your career goal?
-> enterprenuer finance. INSEAD helped to find the internship.
36. If I did not do well in interview, may I request a second interview? Thank you
-> 2 interviews avg.
37. Is it reqired to have Bachelor degree from full-time university? I have my Bachelor degree from vacational university, can i apply for Insead MBA Program?
-> Bachelor degree is needed, but for vacational univ., it depends on your profile.
38. For Asian students, is it a big disadvantage to apply in round 3? Is it possible to get scholarship in round 3?
-> each round is equally competitive, no disadvantage. round 4 is too late, but for round 3, it is no problem.
39. If I graduated from a Finance Bachelor`s degree, would studying towards MBA be redundant? Since I`ve done most of the courses in the MBA curriculum.
-> INSEAD focuses on general management program, including marketing, strategy. MBA goes beyond academic items, including networking.
40. Fang, if you want to say a potential weakness for INSEAD, what will be it?
-> not a program for everybody. Need to think whether it is suitable for u. 10 month intense program.
41. For letters of recommendation, should an applicant have a high-level person who has limited knowledge of the applicant`s day-to-day work or a mid-level person who has worked with the applicant closely, write them a recommendation?
-> second one is better. Someone knows u well. Not concerned about the title. Someone can speak honestly about u.
42. can INSEAD provide any student abassador contact for Chinese applicants?
