humor. 当年我招工作面试的时候也碰到了同样的问题，可他们的政策居然是：如果录取了你就给你报销，没录取就自己出了。呵呵，最后还好被录取了。

You'll end up spending much much more on the tuition/living expenses.  Interviewing on campus could be viewed as a worthy investment if it'll help you get in/pick the right school.

If you have financial difficuty, you could ask school for help, e.g. find students who want to house you, recommend some cheap motels. I believe,  this way, you show a great interest in the school, and know where to get help. There are some of the trails adcom is looking for too.

In the real business world, you will always face problems wiht limited resources. It's up to how you could bring help into table and get the project done.
