前天知道托福IBT成绩，105，还挺满意。但哈佛网站上明确写着：The MBA Admissions Board discourages any candidate with a TOEFL score lower than 267 from applying. 自己一对照Official Guide to IBT 后的换算表，105等于CBT的260，没达到哈佛的分数线呀！本来决心即使很难，也要试试哈佛，不留遗憾，现在难道就因为这条硬性规定而放弃申请哈佛吗？郁闷中，肯请高人指点。

How's your GMAT verbal score?

感谢yaoyao 版主，总是这么快回答我的贴子。我GMAT考了两次，第一次成绩是680（89%），V31（61%），Q50（95%），AW4.5（55%），第二次成绩是730（97%），V39（88%），Q50（95%），AW4.5（55%）。盼复。

Hmm.. You'll have to find a way to convince them that you just had bad luck on the toefl and that your English is just fine.  You can either show it through your GMAT verbal score (not sure if a 39 is good enough), your essays, or your recommendations (they will be asked to evaluate your language compotencies. 

Is there a way for you to take the TOEFL again?

多谢yaoyao版主。这次托福成绩应该是发挥了我的正常水平，reading30(high),listening27(high),speaking20(fair),writing28(good).我想不会再考了，因为自己对这个成绩还是满意的。真没想到哈佛要求267，相当于IBT的110，即使二战也没把握提高5分。特别是口语无法大幅提高。托福考试报名一向很挤，刚刚查过，现在到12月中旬已经没有位子了。现在距第二轮申请截止时间只有1个半月了，还要赶写essay。

哈佛绝不是我非去不可的学校，不过是想冲击一下，不留遗憾。另外，沃顿和耶鲁都是我想申请的学校，虽然没有最低分数线，但托福平均分都高过我的成绩，心中不安，但愿这个成绩不要拖后腿呀。

我现在准备：一、先准备其他学校的essay，二、与推荐人交流一下，听取意见，三、在TOP10里找一个没有最低分数线规定，并且essay题目我有灵感的学校，代替哈佛。

在这种情况下倒底该不该放弃，只有自己能做决定，我会再考虑的。非常感谢yaoyao的建议，并期待继续提出宝贵意见。

我和你情况一样，HBS明确要求IBT达到109，在这方面不太可能通融。我打算12月再考一次T，争取能够达到109，但有相当难度。

终于有境遇相似的人了。请教萨尔瓦多版主，我人在北美，从现在起到12月15日都已经没有IBT位子了。即使12月再考，也来不及在第二轮截止前送分到学校吧，那岂不是归入第三轮了？老实说，现在对二战实在没有信心。除口语外的其他几项都发挥得很好了。二战难保再提高4分呀。真是郁闷！好像现在除哈佛外，我在其他几所名校如斯坦福、沃顿、哥大和耶鲁的网站上都没有托福最近分数线的要求，当然平均分还是高于我的成绩，这是不是意味着那几所学校都没有最低分的限制。这个托福成绩申请那几所有戏吗？都说G/T达到一定标准就够了，没想名校的标准这么高。

你的学士学位是否在英语国家取得？如是，HBS就可以免考T。否则就只能考虑R3。

其他学校基本要求600以上，没什么问题。

In view of the participatory nature of the case method of learning at HBS,
students must possess a highly developed proficiency in written and oral
English.

International candidates from non English speaking countries are required
to

take either the IELTS, or the Test of English as a Foreign Language

(TOEFL),

There's a good reason for b-schools to have that requirement, especially HBS.  You'll get very little out of the classes if you can't participate in the discussions and all the classes at HBS is taught under the case method.  Why don't you try the essays first?  I think HBS has one of the most demanding set of essays, made harder by their strict word limits.  Unless you are comfortable with English, it's extremely difficult to put together a convincing set.

Again, the sole purpose of the test is to check whether you can communicate effectively, with your classmates, professors, and recruiters, during and after your MBA program.  See you can figure out a way to prove that.
