[求助]请各位牛牛指点审请到美国TOP10的机会多大

       一直学习环境类专业，本科在国内一所重点工科学校，硕博都在另一所TOP5高校，专业是环境科学，其间发表了4篇英文论文，本科，硕士GPA一般，GMAT750
       在博士期间开始希望将来可以从事环境经济或管理方面研究和工作，所以决定再去读一个博士，请各位指点以上条件可否审请美国TOp10的高校

IMHO, most of top tier b-schools like Columbia do not accept an applicant with a PhD degree and your chance to a top 10 school is pretty slim.

That's right, the koreans there have PhD degree in MIT, which means a lot!

而且我还听说harvard一assistant professor到sloan读finance phd。

It is jsut a diffused practice among the top schools, although only Columbia mentions that. For the second part, I rather believe it is a rumor. In the gossip, I learned that one MIT finance phd student worked as a TA-Instructor job in HBS, which is not a tenure-track position but an apprentice one. For the LZ's case, I don't think that the professor will have any sense on his background, especially for a phd degree in China. Kind of weird! And LZ is just wasting time...If I were you, I will try to seeking for a JD degree in a top law school, where your environment degree can secure the road down to an effective goal .

BTW, if you don't mind a lower tier school, you still have the chance. GMAT is a big plus. If you are working on modeling, show your quantitative skill and tell people you are studying environmental engineering (since modeling track people like engineering background). Cheerio!

博士转学,换方向虽然少,但也有.不过要解释的东西就会很多,而且教授是否接受这些解释还不一定--通常来说,恐怕很少有人能够严格推导出自己转学和换方向的必然结果(其合理性和必然性之间一定会有tradeoff)

回到楼主的问题: 除了极少数已经具有牛人特征(比如,已经有文章在国际A或B级学术刊物上发表等)外,没有北美的学术背景,直接获得TOP10的商学院PHD OFFER的机会趋近于0.

Frankly speaking,it will be difficult to be admitted by TOP10.In your case, you have also to convenience the faculty why you have to get another PHD.Since the funds are limited, it will be litte chance. Sorry to say this.Only for ur reference.
