呵呵,30岁其实很年轻的,出国读书是你的梦想,为了梦想而付出而承担风险,我觉得还是值得的。

First, you can take student loan in US business school, although the interest rate is somewhat high, but if you can find a reasonable job after MBA, you can pay it back. I remember it may take 10 years to repay the loan.

Second, in your age, I would say a MBA from a top school (or top in your target area) is more important. Other than that, I would say it is better to stay in what you have now. University of California Riverside is a so-so school, and even myself just passed CFA level 1 (if in China, I do not feel hard to pass all 3 levels while working full-timely, just spend more time to enjoy the sunshine and beach in sunny California. But I was also a exam-machine in the past... :-) ). Anyway, do not feel so bad on yourself. Your working experience is your biggest asset.

After all, we are in the same age, and we will consider more things than younger applicants, and MBA is not just a dream...

Currently, I am in Beijing for a short trip (will leave next Tuesday morning), if you want to have a chat, we can arrange one... :-) Good luck!

Hope this helps!

i think your first and 2nd points are a bit contradictory. If your pay is high enough, then you should be able to save and be confident to get the loan and repay the loans. If your pay is not high enough, the second point doesn't matter. Therefore I guess your situation is more on average (if compared with other applicants).

If you are happy with your current job, then I only recommend you to apply for top schools, esp. top 20. If you can enter top 10, then i assume you should be able to find a much better job with much better future unless you are at the bottom 10%. I know many Chinese MBAs in top 10 enter IB/consulting industry with starting pay USD100k+.

As to age, I think age is a problem if you want to have career change. Ibanks normally won't recruit a person in 30s without relevant experience. If you can fully utilize your experience in ibanks' hk/china office, or if you want to join other financial institutions (e.g. assets management, pe/vc), then age is less important.

1M/2y。Money is not an issue for top schools.Just do it.

There are risks and costs to program of action, but they are far less than the long-range costs and risks of comfortable inaction.
