Some questions to be answered:

Why Finance? Why PhD? What's your future plan?

Qualification: GMAT? Quantitive background?

I think your engerneering background will help. But now too many people are entering Finance fields from physics and engineering. you should try to distinguish yourself from them. (espcially those high gmat chinese applicants)
