Are you planning to buy a new computer for the coming academic year to facilitate learning, teaching or research? This special offer may be just the right program for you!
This annual program is organized by the Information Technology Services Center (ITSC), and with the kind support from the Provisional Executive Committee of Students' Union as well as the Purchasing Office. This program is worked out based on your feedback from the May online user survey, and is well received every year.
This year we have selected the most attractive offer from PCCW Limited. Lenovo/ThinkPad notebook computers and Lenovo/ThinkCentre PCs are available at a special price to all HKUST students, staff and alumni. Handheld devices, LCD displays, and some common computer peripherals and accessories are also on offer. Departmental purchase via this program is also accepted.
A choice of 14 latest Lenovo ThinkPad & 3000 Series notebooks (~$4,300 to ~$13,500) and 3 ThinkCentre/3000Q desktops (~$3,500 to ~$6,000) is available for your selection. You can enjoy an effective discount (off retail price) starting from 20% up to over 40%. Majority models are using the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor. All notebook models have built-in Wi-Fi support, and are bundled with Microsoft Vista operating system.
For this limited-time special offer till Oct 31, each eligible person is ONLY allowed to buy at most one notebook and one desktop computer. Note that you are NOT allowed to change ownership of your notebook brought through this program within the first 6 months, NOR are you allowed to transfer your privilege to a third party to make profit.
There will be 2 rounds of roadshow & order taking, and notebook distribution: Roadshow & Notebook Order Taking Distribution 1st Round Aug 9-11 & 13-16 Aug 31 & Sep 1, 3-8 2nd Round (repeat) Aug 31 & Sep 1, 3-8 Sep 24-25, 27-29 & Oct 2-4
To facilitate early pick-up of your notebook computer, there is also a "Cash-n-Carry" arrangement. You may be able to get your ordered notebook earlier within the roadshow periods instead of having to wait for around 3 weeks, but this subjects to stock availability.
For your convenience, you can opt for phone ordering to avoid long queue, and an optional 12-month instalment plan is available. Counters for notebook trade-in and broadband service promotion will also be arranged during the roadshow periods.
