答案D.? 如何改呢。为什么不是C,either 后加is 改为被动 is formed and sank far beneath ....

D的beneath 和 of两个介词,不对的,把of划掉.formed自身自然形成过程,不用被动吧,form可用作及物和不及物动词的

An earlier time. A 改成An。Time也可以作可数名词，表示“时期”。
