thus是连词，remain是一个不及物动词，e选项的断句就变成remains｜thus even when,remain成什么样子呢,没有说,所以跟前面change into...不平行,从这点上来说e就不对了

thus是副词。remain是系动词，可以跟形容词或副词构成系表结构，E是对的。

小的斗胆说一句 查了一下字典 好像thus只有副词的词性

thus even when...前面两个都是副词 但是thus是表示原因的 没有这个必要去用thus...而且注意when后面heat and pressure are removed 前面提到了heat and pressure are present的情况 后面用although表示让步 比用thus好

恕在下才疏学浅 的确没有读出一个因果关系的

thus在这里不表示因果，它完全可以用so来替换。although一般表示已经发生的事情,用在这里逻辑意思不对。供斟酌。

从句意来分析 文章说的是变成了diamond这种状态 然后保持这种状态 所以用一个this way 反向来指代前面的changes into the substance commonly referred to as diamond 对我而言这点比e单独用remain来得得清晰明了 至于e比较没有道理的解释 同时出现两个副词来修饰when 会比较redudant 而且个人感觉也不idiomatic(这点只能弱弱地说靠语感）thus表示so? so的功能很多 不知道大侠说的是那个功能？ 目前还没有发现thus跟so混换的情况 而且thus一般放在句末引导一个结果 修饰一个时间状语从句还是第一次见到

根据新英汉词典:

thus : adv. 1. 如此, 这样, 到如此程度.    He spoke thus.  他是这样说的.
                 2. 因而, 从而
                 3. 例如

此句中thus 应为第一种用法.  近似于 so.   Therefore I prefer answer E.
