OMG, why everybody's saying supply chain is boring? It's sooo useful, every single company needs that kind of talents. It's really easy to find a job in the US. A lot of logistics companies and manufacturing compnies need people in operations. Also, supply chain is not only logistics management, it include purchasing, master scheduling, operation, inventory management, even finance. It's a really big subject and if you pay attention to the harvard business review articles, you will find a lot of professors are doing research on this field. It is related to every single field of business, corporate partnership, forieng direct investment, operation system, negotiation, environmental management. That's also why a lot of people does not know about it, it might be studied by a OB professor or an economics professor in other departments. You can do all kinds of research in this field, macro level, micro level. Stop bullshitting about this field if you haven't done any research. You have to realize that supply chain is the most important way to help business utilize their resources which will benefit the entire society. However, it's not the only function it has. In order to improve the supply chain system, companies need to improve their basic structure, have a closer relationship with its partners and pay attention to the quality management. I might be a little emotional but after searching through this forum, I think a lot of people does not understand what supply chain/ operations management really are. It is a really interesting field and is really closely connected to OR. I'm currently apply for these schools . I was looking for useful informations here but realized that some people offered horrible answers (not the people above though). A lot of people here are so utilitarian. Yeah, as far as know, MIT and CMU are the best school that offer such programs. Anyway, good luck to everybody and maybe we can gather together and help each other for application.
