(1)     GWD-1-Q7:

A recent review of pay scales indicates that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times in 1980.

  1. that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times

  2. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, a ratio that compares to 42 times

  3. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio

  4. CEO’s who now earn on average 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio

  5. CEO’s now earning an average of 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, compared to the ratio of 42 times

把workers a ratio比了。

但下题

(2)     GWD-6-Q18:

In California today, Hispanics under the age of eighteen account for more than 43 percent, compared with a decade ago, when it was about 35 percent.

  1. In California today, Hispanics under the age of eighteen account for more than 43 percent, compared with a decade ago, when it was about 35 percent.

  2. Of the Californians under the age of eighteen, today more than 43 percent of them are Hispanic, compared with a decade ago, when it was about 35 percent.

  3. Today, more than 43 percent of Californians under the age of eighteen are Hispanic, compared with about 35 percent a decade ago.

  4. Today, compared to a decade ago, Californians who are Hispanics under the age of eighteen account for more than 43 percent, whereas it was about 35 percent.

  5. Today, Hispanics under the age of eighteen in California account for more than 43 percent, unlike a decade ago, when it was about 35 percent.

127. In theory, international civil servants at the United Nations are prohibited from continuing to draw salaries from their own governments; in practice, however, some governments merely substitute living allowances for their employees' paychecks. assigned by them to the United Nations.

(A)  for their employees' paychecks, assigned by them

(B)  for the paychecks of their employees who have been assigned

(C)  for the paychecks of their employees, having been assigned

(D)  in place of their employees' paychecks, for those
                of them assigned

(E)   in place of the paychecks of their employees to
                have been assigned by them

In choice A, the phrase assigned by them modifies the adjacent noun, paychecks: the sentence implies that paychecks, rather than employees, work at the United Nations.

G6-18 sounds okay.  The sentence compares "more than 43% of Californian (Hispanic)" with "about 35% (of Californian under 18 are Hispanic)".

  GWD-1-Q7:   A  CEO’s --- a ratio

              C   who---     42 times

              D    who---     42 times

              E     CEO’s --- a ratio

GWD-6-Q18:

            A   Hispanics    a decade ago

B   more than 43 percent      a decade ago

ZHU YI : C  more than 43 percent     about 35 percent

D  a decade ago      Californians who

MSN :allen0018@hotmail.com
