那个FEIFEI800也是，说话太不应该瞧不起读其它major的同学，每个major都是各有特色的。别应为自己没被入取而灰心。

Hey, you are really funny. You cannot even see my point I proposed. GPA is always the least weighted component in your application to a PhD program.

Are you really a cornell alumni? Have you been in the states for more than TEN years? I thought that you might be joking us. Whatever, I will graduate from an Ivy school this month and am able to attend a very top phd program after the lengthy summer. I am expecting my commencement, and who are you?!:-)

But, I do see your personality.

Just for your reference,
I had chance to visit U. Oregon for finance PhD application.
There is one candidate whose background is like you.
An Asian immigrant who got the bachelor from U. Washington.
The reason U. Oregon invite this candidate is a project with finance faculty at U. Washington.

I have no idea about the candidate's under GPA in UW (we all know that's a pretty good school), but I don't think that's more important than the research project.

When your under and grad school is not that good, your GPA would harm you a lot, because unlike foreign schools, there is no gary zone for those faculty members to judge how good your school is.
U.S. professors usually use the under school and GPA to measure 'talent' of an applicant without any research products.
Be honest, I don't think you can be valued as an powerful candidate by these records.

There are tons of brilliant applicants for finance PhD each year, so if you cannot compete in record aspect, trying to make other sides stronger.

You should have less difficulty in English than typical non-native speakers, try to demonstrate your determination with a solid reason for why get into PhD study.
Remember, there are too many brilliant applicants, but not so many applicants know exactly what they are doing to engage in PhD study.
Sometimes, for those not very top research schools, they care about if you can hang in there more than if you are brilliant (guys outstanding profile can get offer from better schools, it's just so tough for schools to judge who is the better PhD students in second even third round).

Just curious: LZ said in her first post that the school she graduated from is just so-so.... is Cornell a so-so school?
