Maybe my GMAT critical reading skill is really bad, as I didn't sense negative on that web page.

I read this web page this afternoon. My understanding by then, even now reading the words you quoted, is that the author is trying to present a picture of the history of Japan (from xxxx year to xxxx year) through lots of woodlock prints. I sense the author holds a neutral attitude. As I recall, there is a paragraph talking about Japanese paying tribute General Ding JuChuang.

The web page has been removed. If I am wrong, I can only say my English reading skill is too bad.
