"after" and "following"

答案是d， 为什么不是E呢？ after后面是不是只能接一个点，而不是一个渐变的过程？

至少这个following是会引起争议的，而after不会,改错的标准就是不可以有争议

following一般解释为“跟随，紧跟”即follow的分词。

following确实本身有介词的意思，但是D和E共存时，一定选after，没有歧义。
