The recruiters in the US know pretty well which school got some special talent in certain fields, so if you want to work in certain fields, it is good for you to get in a program that has distinct advantages.

If you get in UCB and ASU at the same time, you might choose UCB because of the ranking and reputation.But if there are other factors such as scholarship and living expenses, situation might be different.
