Come on, H1 is pretty easy to get. You don't have to be outstanding. I am serious. 30% for top 10? I seriously doubt it. I would believe, in currently US situation, for top 20 Chinease MBA, as long as they want to find a decent job in US and get H1, they all can get it. The thing is some of them may think back to China would have better chance, can really do their own business.

For top 20-50, I would think at least 70% who want to stay in US can get H1B with ease. The remaining probably are because of interview skills, no luck, etc.

Out of top 50, I would think depends on the location, but I think at least 30%-40% would be a safe estimate.

I am talking about decent jobs, not neccesary IB or consulting, but at least corporate finance type of jobs.

Hope you are right on this since most of us will still go to USA for MBA no matter what. But, lili2004 does make a point that MBA is not master of accounting or computer science (before 2001). It's a bit difficult for employers to make a case for hiring a foreign MBA students when there are so many local gradutes available especially in current atmosphere (about the spicy discussion on immigrants "steal" American's jobs). But, still hope our relatively good schools will help us when we enter the US job market.

I totally agree with fuhongl, H1-B is not that hard to get at all (if
you want to go back China right after graduation, then it is another
issue)

First, to work in IB/MC, the H1-B is not an issue at all (if you can get in)

For MNC, if you work in the branches need to coordinate with China or Product Manager, the company will sponsor.

For that girl, I think she applied CPT -- as far as I know, it is very
easy to get. Actually my friends and I all did that, it is absolutely
legal. Just pay some credits in school and you can go to work even in a
different city (I did this after 9/11)

Meanwhile, IT Management is definitely a possible career path for MBAs.
Please refer to CMU MBA program. It is especially fit for those with IT
background. Also, for MCK, Accenture and IBM, they also hire MBAs to
work in this area, the pay is not bad at all -- You gave solutions to
companies, just like all other consulting job. Check online to see what
MCK BTO does.

Also if you have good programming skills and studied the quantitative
finance well in MBA, you will have even big scope to load job. IB, CB,
insurance, hedge fund, mutual fund, consulting companies are all
possible... :-) Especially in IB, starting (salary+bonus) >= 140K a
year is not hard at all...:-)

Politicians and Media talk about foreigners taking jobs from US people all the time, that is the way they catch public attention on their shows. But the decision makers of hiring is corporates' managers and VPs. They don't give a shit to so called national interest. They just want someone who is handy and can make their life easier. Or sometimes just the first candidate they feels comfortable. And at least in selecting candidate, they won't discriminate against foreigners just because you are foreigners.

The US economy currently is so damn good. The hiring wave is crazy after the new year.

The company policy always says give priority to CITIZEN or Permanent
Resident, but most do not enforce unless they need security clearance.
If you are better than other applicants, no one really care. When I
applied for job in 2002, average 94 people competed for a position, but
I defeated others... :-) So I got my position even I was only a CS F-1
student, less than 1000 bucks in pocket..

Do not be fooled by these trash words, they are just put there to make Americans happy... :-)
