选择B-School的困惑: USA or China, 请指点!

Thanks lili and 黑猫警长. Speaking of getting into consulting firms, I know it's not easy for ppl old like me to grap a seat. Seriously, how difficult is it when I graduate at the age of mid 30s?

i do not think CEIBS and Top 10 US are comparable at all. I mean faculty, classmates, alumni, network are totally not comparable. Just as mentioned above, stategic consulting firm and IBank offer global pay no matter where you work. For industry, if you are from CEIBS, then possibly you will join a JV with monthly pay CNY15-20K. However, if you are in US top 10, then you may 1) try oppportunities in US/EU 2) try China positions either from their US/EU head offices or contact China offices directly. I think you have much more comparative advantage in both options.

Even if you can join a MNC from both TOP 10 and CEIBS, the first will offer you global opportunities (of course you can relocate to China as expatriate if you like to move to other countries later) with global pay, and the second offer only local opportunity (can relocate to other countries later?) and local pay. More important, you may find that some MNC are not popular in top 10 schools, but can be very hot in CEIBS.

Of course if you have extremely good background, there is also good opportunity in CEIBS.

Here are several reasons that support a top 10 US MBA school.

1. You will have a global market to find a job (US. and China) vs. only Chinese market.

2. The majority high paying jobs are still from foreign owned companies. With a US top 10 degree, it will give you an edge, at least for now.

3. If you got green card, why waste it. I don't know your timing, but you will be much closer to get the citizenship by the time you are done with your MBA in US.

4. I don't know the caliber of Chinese MBA network. However, the caliber of top 10 MBA who are in China is definately high, because the top 10 MBAs would not go back to China unless they have good offers.

老兄是没有读过mba吧，谁说没几个商业巨子是top10的，世界500强的中上层管理者大部分都是top30的毕业生知道吗，自己去查查他们的背景再说，不要为自己的不努力找借口。

麻烦你说一下公司名称和高管名字? 我去看看他们的网站. 有一点我想大家肯定承认, 想去读MBA的肯定目前遇到各种各样的问题, 而事业很顺的人是不会去考虑什么MBA的. 就象人遇到困难是求助神灵一样,MBA就是那个神灵.

呵呵，你不说我还真的忽略了这个问题了，公司网站上是不容易查到，这个是我们老师上课的时候不厌其烦地提到的事实（尽管多数情况下是讽刺挖苦），在各公司来学校做的career talk里也是一再被验证的，需要强调的是，MBA Degree是被各大公司认可的一个职位提升的捷径，例如5年升职到VP的机会等等。

关于你所说的想去读MBA的肯定目前遇到各种各样的问题, 而事业很顺的人是不会去考虑什么MBA的“似乎有些以偏概全了吧，现在很多企业对员工的升职都有要求，尤其是外企，没有一个过得去的master学位你是很难得到升职机会的。另外，在某个职位上作的久了，必然会产生知识不够用的危机感，这时候mba就成了一个再次充电的不二选择了。
我不否认国内也许有很多人读mba是因为工作上某些问题的存在，但并不代表所有人，更不代表US top 10的大部分学生。
