I would like to share my personal experiences.
I had to choose among Michigan (no scholarship), Emory (Full tuition waiver), and several other schools, and ended up attending a second-tier program providing full tuition waiver and all living allowances. Being risk-averse, I knew that personally, I would not be interested in MC and IB jobs. Now, two years later, I have just accepted an offer from the leadership program of a fourtune500 financial service firm with six-figure salary. (There are several Michigan MBAs in this program too.) I think I made a right decision because I guess I would end up with similar job offers even if I had attended Michigan. Of course, this applies to my own situation only, as many people are enthusiastic about MC and IB.
In your case, if you are determined for MC and IB jobs, then you should definitely choose Michigan, since virtually all top firms recruit there (though Emory is gradually begining to attract some of them). But if you are not interested in extremely busy life style and looking for decent corporate positions, then Emory (with full scholarship) may be a good choice, as each second-tier program does have some top firms recruiting on campus. And since you have the qualifications to be admitted by top 10 schools, you should be confident that you will not be at a disadvantage when competing with them for these positions.
Another piece of advice: Whichever you finally choose, do not regret in the future. Good luck! |
