如果是我,我会选择michigan。钱是小事。

60K means at least two years' saving after work.....

not a small sum at all

Go with Michigan. The ranking difference is too big between the two to be ignored.

There is no suching as top 5% of Emory and last 10% of Michigan. There is only Emory and Michigan.

For MBA brand name is everything.

So, any one could advise the rough percent of Chinese student at Michigan who joins Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Morgan Stanley, GS and similar companies (not including those applying to B-School from these companies)? and the percent for Emory?

I guess the difference is not big as it's always difficult for Chinese to break into these companies without previous similar experiences.....that's why I feel difficult to choose between Emory (full tuition waiver) and Darden (probably no scholarship...). It might be a choice between dream and life. Now my heart tells me to chase my dream, but my mind hesitates. Not sure what I will do if I cannot secure any scholarship from Darden in the end.

I just want to give two examples of my friends as reference for your guys

One girl, from mainland China, MBA,CFA, Emory with 75% scholarship, got a 95K offer after graduation

One male, from mainland China but also got the GC already, MBA+CFA, Michigan Without any financial aids, got a 60K offer after graudation

All in Financial fields

So this is what your guys call Top School effects.

You are completely missing the point here.  The school you go to will NEVER guarantee you a better job.  When it comes to jobs, it always always boils down to the individual.  What the school does for you is to open doors to industries that you otherwise may not have access to.  Heck, I thought I was McKinsey material out of undergrad but they just didn't recruit at my college.  Had I gone to a college that McKinsey recruits, does that mean I would have got a BA offer?  No.  It depends on my ability.  My school cannot guarantee me a McKinsey offer.  But the fact that I didn't go a core school for McKinsey undergrad recruiting shut the door for me.  They just wouldn't consider me at all!  And that's the difference you will see at Michigan vs. Emory.  Likewise, the doors to Blackstone, Carlyle, and KKR are tighter for the Michigan MBAs versus Harvard or Stanford.

BTW, I would really advise against citing two samples and trying to conclude anything.  What makes more sense is to look at the average % of job offers upon graduation and average starting salary for all Chinese students at both schools.  We all know the word "outliers" from our stats course.

What if the Emory girl had attented Michigan? probably with a salary higher than 95k.

What if the Michigan boy had attended Emory? probably earning even less than 60K.

Nobody knows. So the two facts present misleading reference at the most.

哥们,楼上的MM说的对. You simply miss the point.
