我觉得B比C 意思上make sense.

C:  which no commoner or foreigner could enter without permission on pain of death.  这句翻译过来: 没有人能不经允许进入, 但是, on pain of death好象就没地方放了.

B:  which a commoner or foreigner could enter without any permission only on pain of death  不经允许擅入代价只能是死. 感觉挺对的.

顶一下，看看路过的nn有没有对Windweed能解释的。怎样理解on pain of death  的成份？从句意理解上看，好像省略了or。－－（or）on pain of death  。

on pain of death  作no commoner or foreigner could enter without permission的状语，中文可以理解为“在违者处死的情况下”。

B:  which a commoner or foreigner could enter without any permission only on pain of death  

加了only，表达“仅仅”（在这种情况下）的意思，改变句意。

我的问题是白勇语法上说without any permissioin 中的any是多余的，可是之我有看说：any+N与N不能互换，因为你的强调的意思就变化了.....谁能讲下啊，，，，
