[求助]Help!Waitlisted by Darden

Hi, everyone,

I applied Darden at the second round, Jan 12th. No interview. Today I am informed that I have been waitlisted.

My background

G:760 /T:613 /GPA:76/ WE:4.5 years of marketing in a leading China's travel agency

Any your advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

hi cat... how are you! long time no talk!
i don't have a lot of knowledge about darden. but my impression is that darden is such a small school and their allocation to chinese admits must be limited.  plus southern schools are usually more conservative... how's the situation for the bigger schools? did you apply for anything else?

I am just wondering that I am in a better situation than yours or I am considered less competitive?

And now I am quite worried about my interview...

You guy sure are luckier than me. I believe that the applicant who got the interview invitation will have more than 50% possibility to get admitted finally.  Just take it easy and good luck to you.

I have written two emails to a Darden alumni, but he did not reply any of them. From the email of Darden's admission committee, I got his mobile and called him.

We settled an interview finally but I felt really nervous about this interview.

It's a misunderstanding to consider Darden, or the University of Virginia, a southern school. Charlottesville is one of the few places in the state of Virginia that voted for Democrat in the last several Presidential elections.

Regarding interviews, every admitted student was interviewed either by the admission staff or by an alum. I am not aware of any exceptions at this time.

I would say the majority of the state of Virginia is a southern state. However, to claim the whole state is a southern state certainly is misleading. NOVA (northern Virginia) is a suburb of Washington DC. It is significantly different from the majority of the state and it voted for Democrat in the last several elections. Charlottesvill, which is where UVA is located, is another exception.  I have been living in Maryland and Virginia for the last ten years. You have to be here to tell the difference.
