这里靠3点：倒装，对称，和as的用法。

A是 did Halley’s comet cause…in no other historical sighting 和 did its return in 1910-1911之间的对称。两者都是半倒装，回原后A, C 各是：

A: Halley’s comet did cause such a worldwide sensation in no other historical sighting as its return did in 1910-1911

C: Halley’s comet did cause such a worldwide sensation in no other historical sighting as in its return of 1910-1911

A 是主语间Halley’s comet和its return对称。C是介宾间no other historical sighting 和its return of 1910-1911对称。似乎两者均可，那就要看as的用法了。

这里的such…as并不是固定用法。such as的固定用法表示举例或比如。举个例子，OG189里C，such purpose as…, 表示“这些目的比如 A, B, C…” 但在本题的情况下，such 是加深程度，as是作为连词出现的，表示当…时, 有”when”的意思。举个例子, She was finishing the painting as I walked into the room.。既然是连词就只能带一个句子, 主谓要全 (see explanation in OG267 and 126)。但是由于as所带的句子与主句有很多相同的地方，所以可以使用加助动词省略的形式成为正确答案。比如：

A cause *** as B do/does

A can cause*** as B can

A is causing *** as B and C are

那我们修改和省略一下A和C

A: Halley’s comet caused sensation when its return did in 1910-1911

C: Halley’s comet caused sensation when in its return of 1910-1911

C的as/when 多余了。3个语法点看下来，选A.

再看A: In no other historical sighting did A do something as did B => never did A do something as did B => A never did something as B did. 感觉一下。

我认为从解题的思路来看关键是as引导的方式状语从句的对比

主句的倒装是因为介词短语in no other historical sighting 的提前，那么从句是否也应该倒装呢？？？（也希望大家讨论，）

B C E 没有办法还原动词。
C的of  1910-1911不对，属于修饰语逻辑错误。因为 of 1910-1911变成修饰了return 而不是 its return.
所以只有A对了

我倾象于A. 前人的说法"比较的对象不对",我不这么认为. 而切C用in its return of 1910 - 1911. 好象不太对.

有颜色表示真是好办法。

as in: 当as连接2个比较项时，as in...是可以的。如：He studied as hard in college as in high school. 这里比较2个in college和in high school的状语。

as用来表示“当...时”，后面要连句子。如：She finished the painting as I was walking into the room.

这题，as是表示“当...时”.
