I happen to know this CU MPA program. This program is just a cash cow for the school. It recruits hundreds of students every year.Actually, if you have the money, you can get the admission no doubtly. However, the prospects of the program is vevy bad. More than 1/3 students can not find jobs by the graduation date. It will be extremely difficult for a Chinese student to find a job with this degree ( I know 2 graduates from this program). This program teaches a little bit economics, a little bit finance, and some other public policy courses. You won't receive any solid training in any of these aspects. I guess this explains the difficulty of finding a job. Furthermore, this school begins to sell their degrees in China. In the immediate future, you can pursue this degree in China with much lower tuition and living cost. Anyway, I don't think this program is a valuable program. The halo effect of Columbia can not sheild you from all the competition in the future. And this program is somewhat notorious due to the fact of "selling degrees". |
