OG 59題答案的explaination寫道：

只能用過去式：existed  而不可以用had existed

哪位大大可以解釋一下原因嗎？？

答案是(B)，答案的explaination寫道：

只能用過去式：existed  而不可以用had existed

我的看法

首先，这个ice sheets是曾经存在现在肯定不存在了，其次原文中也没有一个参照点的时间告诉你存在到什么时候结束的，所以只能用过去时。
