答案是C,感觉也是C正确，可是仔细分析，好像又觉得不对，这句话主语是the number, 宾语是那一堆数字，怎么可以用area做同位语呢？不解

我的理解：citrus是不可数名词，文中又是泛指，所以没有the

比如说泛指的水如何，没有说the water的

但OG 中, 明明说了 but the plural pronouns them and they do not agree with the singular noun citrus.

泛指倒是可以接受

S05-04为OG4；ETS的解释是citrus 是单数，E also expresses the cause-and-effect relationship between the return of warmer weather and the rotting of the fruit; A, C, and D merely describe these events as contemporaneous.

我觉得在citrus的复数形式包括citrus和citruses两种的情况下，ETS的解释还是比较牵强的。算一道流氓题吧
