我觉得B里用to是修饰这个program的目的。其实B答案里，只是provide something.

觉得de在语法上都没问题，一个是provide sth to do.一个是provide sth+修饰结构修饰sth，所以感觉问题在于classify Africa’s forest elephants and its savanna elephants as separate species的作用，是修饰provide的，还是修饰support的，如果是修饰provide的，表目的，那就是e对；如果是修饰support的，补充supprot的内容，那就是d对，所以关键在于句意。

再来看原句

我认为这里原句想表达的意思是提供了新证据的发现是无目的性的，也即科学家们在挖啊挖，突然——恩！？有东西！啥玩意？带回所里一研究，发现可以用来classify Africa’s forest elephants and its savanna elephants as separate species，所以是宣布New genetic evidence—together with recent studies of elephants’ skeletons, tusks, and other anatomical features-provides compelling support for classifying Africa’s forest elephants and its savanna elephants as separate species，而不是科学家们带着to classify Africa’s forest elephants and its savanna elephants as separate species的目的去发现New genetic evidence，发现后宣布New genetic evidence provide support to classify Africa’s forest elephants and its savanna elephants as separate species

是否还有一点，classify 的逻辑主语是evidence.而evidence 本身不能去classify,因此不能用 to classify, to the classification 等的结构。
