我认为global community实际上是globalization的结果，就是由于globalization，各个种族，地区...的人相互产生影响，每个人的活动都不能脱离其他地区，种族背景的人而孤立存在。在这样的情况下，我觉得应该强调：
1)你的global perspective
2)your understanding of other cultures
3)how the above two points affect the way you work, live, lead an organization, make changes, make decisions, and interact with others.

我也是试图猜测一下学校的意图。我觉得这个题目里面的global community应该同时包括具体和抽象的两层含义。因为所有的essay都应该落实到你的身上，否则的话，光说理论，有很多书说得比你好，对吧？所以在具体的层面上，确实应该用一个实际的例子，从这个角度上说，你讲的是对的。但是也应该把实际的例子提高到抽象的高度上，在文章里面作为画龙点睛。或者说是论点与论据之间的关系。just my 2 cents, open to discussion。

另外，我对第二个essay题目吃不太准
If you could change one decision you have made, what would it be and why?

不知道问题希望的回答是什么方面。我的理解是：曾经有一次选择，我选择了A而不是B。问如果选择了B，现在将会如何，为什么？

希望高人指点！

For rec letter, yes, it's better you answer 10 questions they provided. Or at least you put them together into one big rec letter, but still have to cover those 10 quesitons.

For essay 2: I think school more like to see how you matured from your previous mistakes.

What are your short-term and long-term post-MBA goals? How will Columbia Business School help you achieve these goals? (Recommended 1000 word limit)

这道题目是不是应该完全focus on在未来。有没有必要把自己的经历和背景写进去。我听别人说学校希望从essay中了解一个人的背景经历并判断一个人的个性，不过columbia的几个题目好像很难让人表述背景经历，难道admission committee从简历上判断就足够了吗？
