大家好！


我现在拿到了匹兹堡（official letter）和亚利桑那州立 （verbal）的offer，


1. 匹兹堡和我的研究兴趣非常合，教授看上去人也非常好，整个program的氛围我感觉也很不错，也不会刷人，奖学金稍微多一丢丢， 最近的placement一个去了南卡（不是亚洲人）一个去了剑桥博后。
2. ASU高一个档，UTD 排名也很高。但是最近的placement好像是industry或者teaching school。


提前感谢大家的建议，在这里讲一下我的背景供大家参考：


985本，理科专业，一点没学过finance。
一硕coursework（6.4/7.0） 二硕research  （7.0/7.0）
一篇一作publication （A-ABCD）
GRE 170+154
没考语言，但是我口语还不错，反馈都是面试给分比较高。

ASU怎么可能比Pitts高一档？都是tier2的学校。。。

啊我以为Pitts是tier 3

pitts的faculty group比较小，我一直蛮好奇它为什么placement看起来反而还不错

这有啥好好奇的，小group的学校蛮多的，placement要好看，faculty这边有一两个顶用的大佬加上一两个顶用的associate/AP，然后这波人愿意带学生；and/or 学生这边，多招点不是亚裔的，就行了。

这两所我个人会倾向Pitts，特别是如果你的研究兴趣又很吻合的情况。

In aggregate terms, ASU outperforms Pittsburgh. The latter's placements posted online are the cumulative data for the past 30 years or so starting in the 1990s, but applicants are more concerned with those in the past several years. Also, those records are fraught with inaccuracies and errors, including the missing of qualifiers (e.g., 'visiting' for 'visiting AP' and 'Hillside' for 'Magnificent University - Hillside'). To put these two instances into perspective, visiting APs are essentially adjunct faculty, and the satellite campuses of research universities are usually teaching schools.

These are normally not among the primary considerations in program or offer choice. For Finance, ASU ranks among the top 30 in terms of faculty research and hence is at least two levels above Pittsburgh.
