Generally, the higher ranking a PhD program is, the higher ranking its home institution is in US News Rankings. Exceptions are in existence, though. An extraordinary case is Georgia State University; it is at the 234th in US News Rankings, which is awful. However, the PhD program at Georgia State is fantastic. Among the other exceptions are Kentucky, Alabama, and Central Florida, which are each at 137th. Perhaps, the school in question which is below the 130th is yet another exception. By the way, the US News Rankings are often considered to be not even tangentially relevant to PhD applicants. |
