Day 7 打卡
1.(187)United States Senator Daniel Inouye was appointed to several posts within the Democratic Party during his first term, that included assistant majority whip and vice-chair of the Democratic Senatorial Committee.
A.that included【that引导定语从句前面没有逗号】
B.which includes【includes错误,主语为posts】
C.including【正确】
D.some of which were【没有语境判断出为some,可能就包括后面两个人】some of which与所指的posts相隔太远】
E.among them being【among为三者及以上之间,没有语境判断出三人及以上】Being累赘;among them being修饰对象不明确(awkward),并且无法引导独立主格】

2.(188)Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.
A.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are【正确,having amassed表示先时性,逻辑主语合理,修饰关系合理,动作先后顺序合理】
B.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are【and前后不并列】
C.Neuroscientists amassing a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are【and不并列】
D.Neuroscientists have amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, 【修饰、主干互换,drawing逻辑主语正确,但是不能和主句动作同时发生】drawing并不是have amassed的直接结果,所以不能以现在分词短语伴随修饰】
E.Neuroscientists have amassed, over the past twenty years, a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood,【修饰、主干互换,drawing逻辑主语正确,但是不能和主句动作同时发生】

3.(189)She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to her native Germany, photographer Lotte Jacobi nevertheless earned a small group of discerning admirers, and her photographs were eventually exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States.
A.She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to【she和native Germany不可比】A[size=11.326pt]Less successful… anticipates [size=11.326pt]than rather than [size=11.326pt]compared to… ; a comma isinsufficient to join two independent clauses into a single sentence.】
B.Being less successful after she had emigrated to New York as compared to【as compared to有这个用法吗?还是人和国家比较】[size=11.326pt]As compare to is an incorrect way to complete the comparison introduced by [size=11.326pt]less; [size=11.326pt]being… is unnecessarily wordy and awkward.】
C.Less successful after she emigrated to New York than she had been in【正确】
D.Although she was less successful after emigrating to New York when compared to【人和国家比较;less和than搭配】[size=11.326pt]When compared to is an incorrect phrase to complete the comparison introducedby [size=11.326pt]less.】

1.(187)United States Senator Daniel Inouye was appointed to several posts within the Democratic Party during his first term, that included assistant majority whip and vice-chair of the Democratic Senatorial Committee.C
A.that included(限定性)
B.which includes(时态不一致;单复数不一致)
C.including
D.some of which were(which太远
E.among them being(没必要用独立主格

2.(188)Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.B
A.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are(over the past twenty years只修饰第一个动作,不优;its指代较远)错排,A是正确答案,over the past twenty years不能错误修饰adulthood
B.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are(svo不齐全)
C.Neuroscientists amassing a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are(svo不齐全)
D.Neuroscientists have amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood,   drawing并不是have amassed的直接结果,句意不合理

3.(189)She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to her native Germany, photographer Lotte Jacobi nevertheless earned a small group of discerning admirers, and her photographs were eventually exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States.C

1.(187)United States Senator Daniel Inouye was appointed to several posts within the Democratic Party during his first term, that included assistant majority whip and vice-chair of the Democratic Senatorial Committee.
选C
A.that included that只能用于限定性定语从句
B.which includes 逻辑主语变成了是term
C.including 修饰posts职位
D.some of which were which指代错误
E.among them being being奇怪

2.(188)Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.
选A 错选D
插入语为"having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood", 主干为:Neuroscientists are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows.
A.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are having done如果看作做定语或是adverb modifier是没有歧义,是可以使用的
B.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are and前面没有完整句
C.Neuroscientists amassing a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are and前面没有完整句
D.Neuroscientists have amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood,  句子重心改变,主干变成了表结果的伴随状语
E.Neuroscientists have amassed, over the past twenty years, a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, 句子重心改变

3.(189)She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to her native Germany, photographer Lotte Jacobi nevertheless earned a small group of discerning admirers, and her photographs were eventually exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States.
选C
A.She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to 逗号连接两个独立句了
B.Being less successful after she had emigrated to New York as compared to being多余,比较级和compare to连用
C.Less successful after she emigrated to New York than she had been in 省略了successful
D.Although she was less successful after emigrating to New York when compared to  比较级和compare to连用
E.She had been less successful after emigrating to New York than in 逗号连接两个独立句了

1. C。因为several posts排除掉ABD,E的being很奇怪
2. 插入句,选A
3.  C,compare to两个对比的对象不一样,E的in介词表达不如C清楚

1. D
D which和前面的posts隔得太远,中间有during his first term。被修饰名词和, which中间不要隔着时间介词短语。I wrote letters to Melissa, which were…可以,但是 I took pictures in 1995, which were就不行,这里的时间介词短语有分隔的感觉,不能用which跳过去修饰
2. D 记得看清楚后半部分再选
3. C
