（1）请问一下大家，although可以引导一个和主句主语不同的句子吗？我截图的就是正确选项的答案
（2）如果（1）是成立的，那其他的连词应该和although一样，都可以引导一个句子，这个句子的主语和主句的主语不同吧

There is a critical difference between "although" and "whereas".



Generally speaking, "although" is used to contrast different status of the same subject, and usually within the same time period.

      - Although [James] was sick, [he] came to work the next day.

"Whereas" is used to contrast different subjects.

     - Whereas [most reptiles] have a life expectancy of within 17 years, [turtles] are able to survive till 300 years old.

需要注意的是，whereas 也可以用来比较同一个subject在两个明显不同时期的状态(一般来说要有强烈的反差）:

     - Whereas James found an occupancy in the police service 10 years ago, he is now litigated for stealing, robbing, and human trafficking.
