Hey there,
The reality is that the full impact of COVID on MBA admissions, particularly at top schools, will be difficult to know for probably at least 1-2 more years. Deferments by admitted applicants in previous cycles will indeed play a role, but so will job market dynamics on the number of applications, as well as admissions committees' own (highly motivated) efforts to balance out their year-to-year class sizes. So while it's impossible to say for sure exactly how competitive the admissions cycle will be for 2022 entry, what we do know is that the admissions "market" will continue to be in flux for some time. Our advice is that you should proceed with whatever plans make the most sense for you personally. If you have the flexibility to wait for another year or two, then you can wait until MBA admissions stabilize after another cycle or two. However, if you're at an inflection point in your career and now is the ideal time to enter business school, then we recommend that you don't delay -- a competitive application will continue to be competitive in this environment.
